Longbows are considered the best choice of equipment for the archery beginner as they are simple to use with their more traditional build. They are roughly the same height as the users, which allows for a quite a long draw. They are generally made from a single piece of wood, most commonly yew, and look semi-circular or D-shaped in cross section. Most strings are natural fibers but some of the newer synthetics are also dependable.
Longbows are equally suited for hunting and competing with their slim grips and smooth draws. The length of the longbows offers archers the opportunity to shoot without their fingers getting pinched when the string is drawn back and when it’s released. The ease and comfort that a longbow offers makes it a perfect choice for beginners.
