Training and Shooting

OTC2

Wow it’s been a crazy couple of months.  I had only been back from Junior Dream Team camp in Colorado Springs for a couple of weeks when I found out I had received an invitation to the March camp in Chula Vista.

So, the training continued!  I usually shoot every day but shooting close to 200 arrows a day takes up some time. With all the trips and competions on the schedule, I officially became a home school student for the remaining two months of school.

Camp in Chula Vista was amazing.  It is a beautiful place!  I did, despite using a ton of sunscreen, still managed to get a sunburn.  That was my least favorite part.

Arizona was an experience!  There are all kinds of hazards that you don’t expect to have to worry about when you are shooting.

My Qualifier round in Arizona was awesome.  I beat a couple of JDT red team members and several boys as well.  That made me feel that I am on the right track with my training decisions.  My OR didn’t go as well as I would have liked but I learned a lot from the experience.

This coming weekend I am shooting the First Dakota and then the next week we are in College Station for the Texas Shootout.  I hope to see you guys there!

Product Review-Legend Archery Akiles Backpack

Hey guys!
I am headed to Colorado Springs this weekend for Junior Dream Team Camp and I wanted to take a moment to do a review of the awesome backpack from Legend.  I could not believe how much fits in such a small space and how easy it was for me to carry.

Hello Archery World!

Here comes the newbie-my first post for Legend Archery! You guys are going to love the new stuff coming out, I am so excited.

Wow, it has been a crazy year of competing! I think in July I was home about ten days. It seems a bit strange now to not be leaving to go somewhere to shoot. I like to travel but I do miss my dog when I am gone and she misses me just a little.

Over the next few months, my practice is focused on perfecting the NTS system. My goal is to go to the Junior Dream Team Camp in the next two years and that is the first step to get there. I have read interview with archers with my parents when I first started learning and they talk a lot about the struggle to get to that system. It is difficult to “unlearn” what you were doing before and then adopt a new form. When you start, you have to remember that you will go backwards before you go forward. That is the hard part. It is better to focus on the things you progress with rather than looking for a certain score at that time. I have heard some people just stop shooting during that time. I hope if you decide to learn, you stick with it because when it starts working and you get it, it is an awesome feeling.

The next big tournament for me will be returning to Las Vegas for the World Archery shoot in February. I got to meet Andre Agassi this past year so I can’t wait for the next tournament! I had so much fun but my parents were not able to go with me. This next time, they are going so it will be AWESOME. How many of you will be going? I hope that you stop and say hello!
